Delivering a patient specific surgical device to accurately and rapidly remove bone cement without trauma
Redefining Orthopaedic Revision Surgery
Amotio transforms complex orthopaedic revision surgeries through a personalised, digitally guided approach. By combining precision planning, 3D printing, and surgical innovation, we reduce surgical time, improve recovery, and lower healthcare costs. Our mission: safer, faster, more effective bone cement removal.
Why It Matters
Revision surgeries are rising — and so are the risks.
As more joint replacements are performed globally, failures are increasing. By 2030, over 500,000 patients annually will need complex orthopaedic revision surgery. Yet many of these cases involve cemented implants, making them more difficult, risky, and expensive to treat.
The Problem
Bone cement removal is the most difficult part of orthopaedic revision. It can add up to 60 minutes to surgery time, increasing costs, risks, and surgeon fatigue — all while worsening patient outcomes.
The Economic Impact
In the UK alone, 2.8 million people are economically inactive due to long-term health conditions. Musculoskeletal issues are the second leading cause, affecting 646,000 people — placing a growing burden on healthcare services and society.
Three Key Technologies
We have the solution.
A New Standard for Revision Surgery. Amotio streamlines complex bone cement removal with a digital workflow—delivering personalized, faster, safer orthopaedic revisions.
Digital joint mapping, templating & surgical planning
A digital template of the patient’s joint, implant and bone cement structure is created and approved by the surgical team. This enables the first step in the patient specific surgical planning process, personalised to the individual’s unique anatomy.

Intelligent Surgical Guides
Combining digital joint templating with 3D additive printing technology enables the creation of an intelligent surgical guide for use by the surgeon during the surgical intervention. Once created, the device will be delivered and sterilised in time for planned surgery. The intelligent surgical guide enables surgical precision and accuracy during the procedure.

Precision Cutting Device
In collaboration with the Intelligent Surgical Guide, a patent-protected, precision bone cement removal device seamlessly navigates the confined space within the bone cavity. The two devices working harmoniously enabling precision targeted bone cement removal.
