Amotio is revolutionising orthopaedic revision surgery through digital innovation, personalisation, and a commitment to better patient outcomes.
A focused approach to improving outcomes in revision joint surgery
Amotio is a UK-based medical technology company developing solutions for orthopaedic revision surgery. Born from a collaboration between orthopaedic surgeons and innovation leaders in the Netherlands and the UK, Amotio is driven by a simple question: how can we establish a repeatable process for revision surgery that ensures outcomes are simpler, safer, and faster, for surgeons and patients?
Drawing on decades of clinical and product development expertise we have developed a scalable solution designed around real-world surgical workflows – validated through pilot projects and supported by European innovation programmes. Our focus is on one of the most technically demanding steps in orthopaedics: bone cement removal in revision joint procedures.

What is the problem?
Revision joint surgery is growing globally, driven by aging populations and increasing volumes of primary joint replacements in younger patients. Coupled with increasing implant longevity requirements, revision joint procedures are expected to continue to rise significantly in coming years.
Despite this growth, bone cement removal remains one of the most technically challenging steps in revision procedures. Current approaches rely heavily on the individual surgeon’s technique and experience resulting in:
- Increased operative time
- Risk of bone loss
- Variable outcomes across surgeons and hospitals
- Reduced operating theatre efficiency
- Increased recovery time
This inconsistency represents a significant and systemic inefficiency in an expanding global landscape – and one in which surgeons rate current solutions at just 3.1 out of 10.

Our approach
Amotio is developing patient-matched surgical tools designed to improve the precision, consistency, and predictability of bone cement removal in revision joint surgery.
Our solution combines our innovative bone cement removal technology with pre-operative planning to support surgeons during this critical procedure. It’s designed to integrate seamlessly into existing surgical workflows, enhancing decision making and execution without adding complexity.
We’re not looking for incremental improvements; we want to solve a bottleneck with a clear route to adoption and scale. Our aim is straightforward: improve surgical consistency, preserve healthy bone, and enable more efficient procedures.
